Lucas Digne, the seasoned French left-back, has opened up about his current situation at Aston Villa, expressing contentment with his role at the club while acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding his future.

“I’m happy at Aston Villa, but I only have one year left on my contract, so I don’t know what will happen in my next chapter, I’m not thinking about it, because I only have one goal: I just want to finish the season well, enjoy my football, always work hard and give the best of myself so that my team continues to be successful.”

Digne’s commitment to the team has been evident throughout the season. “Personally, I really enjoyed this season… and yes, I appreciate my statistics in defense and attack, because these two aspects are important for a left-back. I feel like I’m at my best as a footballer, and with experience, you become a smarter player,” he added.

Since joining Aston Villa from Everton in January 2022 for a reported fee of £25 million, Digne has made significant contributions to the team’s defense and attack. His performances have been integral to Villa’s push for European qualification.

However, with his contract set to expire in June 2026, discussions about his long-term future are inevitable. While Digne remains focused on the present, the club’s management will need to consider their options regarding his contract extension or potential transfer.
