The 29-year-old still has a contract until 2027 but has had to leave in search of regular minutes

Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas Roma has completed a season-long loan move to Italian side Roma.

The Greece international underwent his medical in Rome last week after Liverpool granted permission for the move. The deal does not include an option to buy.

Tsimikas had been expected to leave Anfield this summer after slipping further down the pecking order following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

The Hungarian has started all of Liverpool’s three Premier League games while Andy Robertson, the former first-choice at left-back, has been on the bench. Tsimikas was left out of the squad for all three fixtures

Since joining from Olympiacos in 2020, the 29-year-old has largely operated as Robertson’s deputy, making 115 appearances in all competitions. He signed a contract extension in 2023, running until 2027.

Tsimikas becomes the latest departure in a busy window at Liverpool. The club have already sold Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah and Caoimhin Kelleher, while Trent Alexander-Arnold left at the end of his contract.

Incoming signings include Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, Kerkez, and goalkeepers Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi.
