Midfielder won the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year award after helping Liverpool to the big prize in “an unforgettable season”

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has described the 2024-25 Premier League title win as “something really special” and warned that the Reds are determined to build on their success.

The 23-year-old won the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year award after playing a key role in the triumph of Slot’s side. Liverpool secured the title emphatically with a 5-1 rout of Tottenham at Anfield with four matches to go.

“It was honestly something really special, a season I’ll never forget,” Gravenberch told Numero Netherlands. “The scenes on the bus as we approached Anfield before the Spurs game, that afternoon we won the league, will stay with me forever.

“The passion on the fans’ faces, the red flares, the noise, the songs, just seeing what it meant to them, it gave me goosebumps. That image will never leave me.

“And then once we got inside the stadium, the atmosphere was just unbelievable. I remember thinking ‘Wow, this is different, this is something else’.

“The celebrations with the lads afterwards, that moment when it really hit us that we’d done it, was incredible. Liverpool’s second Premier League title in five years, and my first.”

Slot’s decision to utilise Gravenberch in a deeper midfield role brought defensive steel to the midfield. The Netherlands international ended the season third in the Premier League for interceptions, with only defenders Aaron Wan Bissaka and Antonee Robinson ahead of him.

Having had a taste of glory, Gravenberch and the rest of Slot’s Anfield army are eager for more success.

“I’m proud to have played a part in what was an unforgettable season,” said Gravenberch. “And now, we’re already looking forward to next season. We’re hungry for more.”
