Items left by fans will be recycled to create the sculpture
Liverpool have confirmed plans to honour Diogo Jota with a memorial sculpture at Anfield.
Jota and his brother Andre Silva died in a car accident in northern Portugal on 3 July. Since then, thousands of supporters have paid tribute by leaving flowers, scarves, and banners outside Anfield.
The club confirmed on Saturday that these tributes will be preserved and repurposed as part of a lasting tribute.
Items left by fans will be recycled and used to create a sculpture to be installed at the stadium in the coming months.
In addition to the sculpture, Liverpool players will wear a “Forever 20” emblem on their shirts and stadium jackets throughout the 2025-26 season.
A floral wreath will be laid to honour Jota’s memory before kick-off in all of the club’s pre-season fixtures this summer.
The club will also hold a minute’s silence and display a fan mosaic in Jota’s memory before their Premier League opener against Bournemouth on 15 August.
Jota’s No 20 shirt has been officially retired across all Liverpool teams, including the women’s and academy sides.
The club has also made it possible for fans to print “Diogo J. 20” on shirts in official stores, with all profits going to the LFC Foundation.
The Foundation plans to launch a grassroots football programme in Jota’s name. The programme will support access to football for young people in the UK and Portugal.
