Premier League Champions consider Diaz an important player for the club and have previously turned down an offer from Barcelona
Liverpool have rejected a formal approach from Bayern Munich for winger Luis Diaz, making it clear once again that the Colombia international is not for sale this summer under any circumstances.
The German club made an official enquiry into Diaz’s availability through sporting director Max Eberl, only to be firmly told that Liverpool will not enter discussions for the 28-year-old forward. It’s the second high-profile club to be rebuffed in recent weeks, with Barcelona also having seen an informal approach turned away earlier in the window.
Liverpool consider Diaz as an important player in their frontline. The Colombian played a key role in Arne Slot’s Premier League title-winning side last season, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists in the league.
Crucially Diaz can play anywhere across the front three, which has turned him into one of the Reds’ indispensable players. He regularly featured in the No 9 position last season, dropping deep and creating space for Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah to his left and right.
Diaz has two years left on his current contract. The player has admitted that he has been speaking to other clubs this summer, but also addressed his Liverpool future, saying that whether he stays or leaves “depends on them obviously”.
Liverpool reportedly intend to keep Diaz at least until 2027, even if it means that he leaves as a free agent.
Last month, Diaz said concerning the club: “I would be happy and content to stay at Liverpool. I’m very very happy there. From day one they’ve made me feel really welcome.”
