Revenue gives Premier League champions more flexibility to conclude deals for Isak and Guehi

Liverpool have brought in more than £200m in player sales this summer after winger Ben Doak joined Bournemouth in a deal worth £25m.

The 19-year-old made it clear he wanted regular football and felt he had a better chance of that with Andoni Iraola’s side.

Doak joined Liverpool from Celtic in 2022 for around £600,000 and made ten senior appearances before spending last season on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship, where he produced three goals and seven assists in 24 matches.

Liverpool have spent more than £270m on players this summer but that has largely been offset by outgoings.

Luis Diaz was sold to Bayern Munich for £65.5m, Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal for £46m, Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford for £18m, and Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for £35m.

A fee of around £8m was also received from Real Madrid to release Trent Alexander-Arnold early. Tyler Morton joined Lyon for £15m, while Nat Phillips moved to West Brom for £3m.

Liverpool could indeed still make further sales this window, with Kostas Tsimikas and Harvey Elliott also likely to leave Anfield. The latter is valued at around £50m.

This revenue hands the club the flexibility to potentially conclude deals for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi this summer.

The club might need to pay a gargantuan £150m fee to get the former away from St James’s Park, but the latter could be available for around £40m.
