Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern interested but not expected to move until the summer; Manchester United monitoring developments

Crystal Palace expect Liverpool to be the only club to move for Marc Guehi in January, with most of the defender’s European suitors prepared to wait until he becomes a free agent next summer.

The situation at Selhurst Park has been clear for months. Guehi informed the club earlier in the season that he would not be signing a new contract.

Palace head coach Oliver Glasner confirmed in October that the 25-year-old intended to leave at the end of the campaign. His current deal expires on 30 June, allowing him to walk away for nothing.

Liverpool retain a long-standing interest. Their late attempt to sign Guehi for around £35m collapsed on deadline day, but the club have continued to monitor him closely as they look to refresh their defensive options.

Palace accept that Liverpool are the only side likely to submit a bid mid-season.

Other interested clubs include Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich but they are not expected to move before he becomes available for free.

From January, Guehi will also be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside England.

Manchester United are also tracking developments. The club see Guehi as a potential successor to Harry Maguire, according to Mail Sport. Guehi is experienced in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, having played in it extensively under Glasner.
