Premier League champions will pay a guaranteed €80m upfront, with a further €12.5m in add-ons

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign striker Hugo Ekitike for €91.5m, including add-ons.

Liverpool will pay a guaranteed €80m upfront, with a further €12.5m to be paid in bonuses tied to both individual and team achievements.

Ekitike is expected to travel to Liverpool later this week to undergo a medical ahead and finalise the move.

The 23-year-old French striker became Liverpool’s primary attacking target after Newcastle informed them that Alexander Isak was off limits. Liverpool then immediately accelerate talks with Frankfurt for Ekitike, with the deal concluded within the past three days.

Newcastle also made a €75m bid for Ekitike before Liverpool but it was rejected by Frankfurt.

Ekitike scored 22 goals in all competitions for Franfkurt last season. He did not feature in their most recent pre-season match against FSV Frankfurt due to the talks in progress for his switch to the Premier League.

A centre-forward was a necessity for Arne Slot’s attack ahead of the new season. Darwin Nunez has underperformed in his time at the club and has been linked with a move away. Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz can play centrally but are better suited to the left flank, and Federico Chiesa has niggling injury issues.
