Kerkez one of Premier League’s most highly-rated young full-backs; Liverpool have two senior left-backs and may let one go this summer
Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez for £40 million, with the 21-year-old set to undergo a medical next week before completing a five-year deal at Anfield.
The Hungary international has impressed over two seasons with Bournemouth, making 74 appearances since joining from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2023. Kerkez is known for his energy, strong tackles and marauding runs, which have made him one of the most highly-rated young full-backs in the Premier League.
Liverpool won the Premier League last season but are wasting no time in strengthening their squad. The move for Kerkez follows their recent signing of right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. The club have also sealed a major deal for Florian Wirtz, who had a medical in England on Friday.
Kerkez will be joining a squad that already includes two senior left-backs: Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. Robertson has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid, while Tsimikas may also leave the club this summer after spending much of his Liverpool career as a backup option.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth made sure to sign a replacement for Kerkez before agreeing a deal with Liverpool. The south coast club have brought in Adrien Tuffert from French side Rennes, who will compete with January signing Julio Soler for a starting place next season under manager Andoni Iraola.
