Striker scored 42 goals in all competitions in 2024-25 for La Blaugrana
Robert Lewandowski has said his age is “just a number” and that he is “feeling great physically and mentally”, as he reflects on a successful season with Barcelona. The Pole finished as top scorer for La Blaugrana at 36 years old, lifting three trophies and proving age remains no match for class.
In a campaign many thought might be his last at the top, Lewandowski scored 42 goals in all competitions, silencing doubts about his ability to continue at the top and reaffirming his status as one of the greatest goalscorers of the game.
When asked about his future, the 36-year-old said: “I have time to decide what comes next. But for now I know I’m ready to keep going.”
Lewandowski’s role at Barcelona in 2024-25 extended far beyond goals. As the most experienced figure in a youthful squad, he also helped to guide and mentor the players.
“I knew Barcelona needed time to change things,” said Lewandowski. “You can’t transform everything in one or two seasons.
“I spoke with [Hansi] Flick when he arrived and shared my perspective on the club. He found a way to get the best out of everyone.”
With one year left on his contract, Lewandowski is in no hurry to look too far ahead. For now, he says, it’s about staying ready and appreciating the moment.
“Football changes quickly. A week is already a long time in this sport,” he said. “Right now, I just want to enjoy the moment, prepare well, and see what happens.
“I’m proud of everything I’ve accomplished. Football has changed a lot, and I’ve adapted. I’m happy to be playing in this team.”
