The match began with AC Milan’s early pressure, but Genoa’s Lorenzo Colombo opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, showing his parent club what they’re missing. Ruslan Malinovskyi’s perfectly weighted pass found Colombo, who diverted it past Mike Maignan.
AC Milan had chances to equalize, including a Gabbia header that hit the crossbar and a Christian Pulisic effort ruled out for handball. Genoa’s Nicola Leali made several crucial saves, frustrating the hosts.
Despite dominating possession, AC Milan struggled to break down Genoa’s defense. Leali’s heroics kept the visitors in the game, and they nearly snatched a win with a late penalty. Stanciu stepped up to take the spot kick but blazed it over the bar, sparing Milan a defeat. Leao’s late header, however, ensured the Rossoneri avoided a loss.
The draw leaves AC Milan second in Serie A, three points behind leaders Inter Milan. Genoa remains 17th, three points above the relegation zone.
