Real Madrid forward continues to pursue €55m unpaid wages claim in French court
Kylian Mbappe has formally withdrawn his legal complaint against former club Paris Saint-Germain over allegations of “moral harassment”. However, the French forward remains locked in a separate dispute over €55m in unpaid wages and bonuses, which he continues to pursue through France’s labour courts.
The decision to drop the harassment case comes just hours before Mbappe is due to face PSG in the semi-final of the Club World Cup with Real Madrid.
The complain, which was filed in June, accused PSG of deliberately marginalising Mbappe during his final months in Paris after he informed the club of his decision not to extend his contract beyond 2024. The tension between both sides escalated when the club reportedly withheld salary and loyalty bonuses worth €55m.
In April, Mbappe’s legal team also obtained a temporary freeze on part of PSG’s finances, although that embargo was later lifted by a Paris court.
The Real Madrid forward’s lawyers have now dropped the criminal complaint over harassment, although the financial dispute remains active. The case will proceed through France’s labour court.
According to L’Équipe, Mbappe dropped the harassment complaint because he wants to simplify the legal process and avoid the complications of several legal battles while he focuses on his playing career at Real Madrid.
The France international is now preparing for the semi-final clash against his former side on Wednesday 9 July and has yet to comment publicly on the legal developments.
PSG War with Mbappe Boils Down to Ego Clash
France forward Kylian Mbappe has been in a battle with his former club over an issue of the striker’s unpaid wages. The saga has dragged on for over a year.
According to Mbappe’s legal team, PSG are obligated to make the payments because they were included in the player’s contract. However, the club argue that Mbappe had agreed to waive these payments before being readmitted back in the squad in 2023.
