Kompany Provides Update on Kane and Backs Ulreich Ahead of Leverkusen Clash

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany says Harry Kane could feature against Bayer Leverkusen while backing veteran goalkeeper Sven Ulreich to step up in the absence of Neuer and Urbig.

Vincent Kompany has revealed that Harry Kane could return to action when Bayern Munich face Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, although the striker’s place in the starting lineup remains uncertain.

Kane recently returned to full training after missing Bayern’s 4-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach. The England captain was also named in the squad for Bayern’s Champions League match against Atalanta but remained on the bench throughout the team’s dominant 6-1 win.

Since then, the 32-year-old striker has continued training with the squad, and Kompany confirmed that the club is carefully monitoring his fitness before making a final decision about his involvement.

Speaking at a press conference, Kompany said there is a possibility Kane could feature against Leverkusen but stressed that Bayern will not take unnecessary risks with the striker despite their strong position in the Bundesliga title race.

Kane has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 30 goals in just 24 Bundesliga appearances. His potential return would provide another major boost for Bayern as they continue their push for both domestic and European success.

Meanwhile, Bayern are also dealing with goalkeeping concerns ahead of the match, with both Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig unavailable. As a result, veteran goalkeeper Sven Ulreich is expected to start.

Ulreich has not played competitively for Bayern in around a year and a half, but Kompany expressed complete confidence in the experienced shot-stopper, describing him as a reliable and respected figure within the squad.

The 37-year-old has made more than 100 appearances for Bayern during his career, and Kompany insisted the team has full belief in him to deliver if called upon, just as he has done in previous seasons.
