Vincent Kompany expressed his satisfaction after Bayern Munich produced a dominant performance to defeat Atalanta 6–1 in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie.
Speaking after the match, Kompany praised both the result and the way his players executed the tactical plan prepared for the game. According to the Bayern coach, the performance reflected exactly what the team had aimed to produce.
“I think I have to be humble… I know the biggest thing I can give them is the habits, the work rate and the mentality to continue. I am a bit obsessive with that side of it.”

Bayern controlled the match from start to finish, overwhelming their Italian opponents with relentless attacking football. Kompany said the display was a natural reflection of the talent and mentality within his squad.
Despite the impressive victory, Bayern faced several injury concerns during the game. Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig all required attention at different moments.
Kompany chose not to discuss the injuries in detail but admitted that Davies could miss some time. He also pointed out that injuries are an inevitable part of football and expressed confidence in the depth of Bayern’s squad to cope with any absences.
The Bayern manager also revealed that Harry Kane was close to making an appearance after recovering from injury. However, with Bayern already comfortably ahead in the match, the striker was ultimately not needed.
Meanwhile, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl offered an initial update on the injured players. He suggested Musiala’s issue appeared to be the least serious and that his substitution had been more of a precaution.
Eberl added that Davies could be dealing with another muscular problem, while Urbig experienced dizziness and a headache after colliding with Nikola Krstović late in the match. Further medical examinations are expected to clarify the extent of the injuries in the coming days.
