Kane Breaks Personal Record as Bayern Edge Dortmund in Five-Goal Thriller

Kane broke his personal goal-scoring record as Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-2 to move 11 points clear at the top.

Harry Kane has etched his name deeper into the history books, becoming the first player since 2001 to score multiple goals in four consecutive Bundesliga matches.

The atmosphere at Signal Iduna Park was predictably intense from the start as Michael Olise nearly silenced the home crowd early with a stinging left-footed strike.

However, the first half was largely defined by a moment of significant controversy when Nico Schlotterbeck escaped a red card for a studs-up challenge on Josip Stanisic.

Despite a VAR check, the defender was only shown a yellow card, a decision that would prove pivotal just moments later when the same player made his mark at the other end of the pitch.

Dortmund capitalized on their reprieve in the 26th minute, as Schlotterbeck rose highest to meet a Daniel Svensson free-kick, powering a header past the goalkeeper to draw first blood. The goal maintained BVB’s incredible record of scoring in every single Bundesliga match so far this season.

Bayern, despite dominating possession throughout the first half, struggled to find a clinical edge and were lucky not to go two goals down when Jonathan Tah produced a desperate goal-saving challenge on the brink of halftime.

Vincent Kompany’s side emerged for the second half with renewed energy, finally finding their breakthrough via their most reliable source.

Harry Kane restored parity with a composed left-footed finish after Serge Gnabry had intelligently nodded a Joshua Kimmich pass into his path.

The game became more dramatic when Schlotterbeck went from hero to villain, conceding a penalty for a foul on Stanisic inside the area. Kane stepped up and hammered home the spot-kick to score his 30th league goal and 45th in all competitions this season.

In doing so, he officially broke his personal club record for goals in a single campaign, surpassing the 44-goal mark he set during his debut season in Munich last year.

Just as it seemed Kane had secured the points, Dortmund struck back with a moment of pure quality. Daniel Svensson connected with a sensational first-time volley from a Marcel Sabitzer cross to pull the hosts level at 2-2.

The Signal Iduna Park erupted as it looked like the points would be shared in an absorbing encounter, but the final twist in this high-stakes chess match was still to come.

In the closing stages, Joshua Kimmich mirrored Svensson’s brilliance by unleashing a superb left-footed volley of his own to seal the 3-2 victory for Bayern.

The goal effectively ended Dortmund’s 16-match unbeaten league run and left their title ambitions in tatters. As Bayern celebrates a massive step toward another trophy, the rest of the league is left wondering if anyone can stop the momentum of Kompany’s record-breaking squad.
