Kai Havertz will miss Arsenal’s match against Liverpool and Germany’s World Cup qualifiers due to a knee injury, with surgery a possibility. The forward’s absence could last several weeks.

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has picked up a knee injury that will keep him out of action for several weeks. The Arsenal forward didn’t feature in the team’s 5-0 win over Leeds and is now facing an uncertain future regarding his availability for upcoming matches.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, revealed that the club is still unsure about the severity of Havertz’s injury and will conduct further tests to determine the best course of action.

“We will do some more tests to explore the issue a little bit further and decide what we’re going to do,” Arteta said, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding Havertz’s availability.

The injury has also impacted Havertz’s international commitments, with Germany’s national team director, Rudi Völler, confirming that he will miss the World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and Northern Ireland. Völler added that surgery remains a possibility for the 26-year-old, which could further extend his absence from the pitch.

Havertz’s injury woes are reminiscent of his hamstring tear in February, which kept him sidelined for several months. The fear of another lengthy layoff has reportedly prompted Arsenal to pursue Eberechi Eze, who could make his debut for the club after a £67.5 million move from Crystal Palace.

In addition to Havertz’s injury, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is also expected to be absent for several weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained against Leeds. However, the good news is that Saka’s injury is not as severe as initially feared, and he is likely to be out for about three to four weeks.

The injury update has also raised concerns about Martin Ødegaard’s availability for the match against Liverpool, as the captain has injured his shoulder. Despite this, Ødegaard has been called up by Norway for their World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Moldova.
