Juventus’ three-match winning streak came to an end after Jonathan David missed a penalty in a 1-1 Serie A draw with Lecce at the Allianz Stadium.

Juventus were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Lecce at the Allianz Stadium, with Jonathan David’s second-half penalty miss proving costly as the hosts’ winning streak came to an end.

Luciano Spalletti’s side dominated much of the contest and created the clearer chances, with David seeing an early header pushed onto the post by Wladimiro Falcone, while Andrea Cambiaso and Manuel Locatelli also threatened for the Bianconeri.

Despite Juventus’ control, it was Lecce who struck first in first-half stoppage time. Lameck Banda capitalised on a loose pass from Cambiaso, drove inside Pierre Kalulu and Bremer, and fired a powerful finish past the goalkeeper.

Juventus responded quickly after the break, drawing level just four minutes into the second half with a swift counter-attack from a Lecce corner, finished by Weston McKennie after Kenan Yildiz’s cross took a deflection.

The hosts were then handed a golden opportunity to complete the comeback in the 66th minute when Mohamed Kaba was penalised for handball following a VAR review, but David’s low penalty was kept out by Falcone’s outstretched leg.

Juventus pushed hard for a late winner and came agonisingly close in stoppage time, as Yildiz curled an effort against the post before Lois Openda blazed the rebound over the bar.

The result marked Juventus’ 22nd Serie A draw since the start of last season, the most of any team, while Falcone’s heroics further underlined his penalty-saving prowess and denied the Bianconeri their first spot-kick goal since December 2023.
