Juventus and Reggiana played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Bianconeri’s first pre-season fixture, with new signing Jonathan David impressing in his debut.
Juventus began their pre-season preparations with a 2-2 draw against Serie B side Reggiana in a friendly match.
The game marked the Bianconeri’s first taste of action since competing in the Club World Cup, and they used the extended break to recover physically and regroup. Despite the delay in starting their pre-season training, Juventus showed promising signs, with new signing Jonathan David impressing in his debut.
The match got off to a lively start, with Reggiana’s compact defense initially holding firm against Juventus’ attacks.
However, David’s new teammates created several chances, with Francisco Conceicao hitting the woodwork after a pass from Fabio Miretti. The Bianconeri continued to press, and Conceicao, Teun Koopmeiners, and David all had opportunities to score.
Reggiana, however, were not to be underestimated. They took the lead midway through the first half when Natan Girma scored with a well-placed shot from outside the box. But Juventus responded immediately, with Conceicao leveling the score with a stunning effort from distance. The first half ended 1-1, with both teams having chances to take the lead.
The second half saw Juventus start strongly, with Dusan Vlahovic wasting no time in scoring after coming on at the break.
Vlahovic’s goal was a testament to his sharp instincts, and he went close again moments later. However, Reggiana refused to give up, and Cedric Gondo restored parity for the visitors with a well-taken header.
Despite the attacking flair from both teams, neither side could find a winner, and the match ended 2-2. The draw was a good test for Juventus as they prepare for the upcoming season, and the Bianconeri will look to build on this performance in their upcoming friendlies.
The match was a useful exercise for Juventus coach Igor Tudor, who made some interesting selection choices in his starting XI. David’s debut was a highlight, and Conceicao’s creativity was evident throughout the game. The Bianconeri will now head to Germany for further training and preparation.
