Juventus are set to continue negotiations with Crystal Palace for Mateta after seeing their first offer rejected, with Napoli also monitoring the situation.

Juventus are not backing down in their pursuit of Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and are expected to resume talks with the Premier League club today, despite their opening bid being turned down.

The Bianconeri made an initial approach for the 28-year-old on Sunday, but Palace were quick to reject the proposal, signalling they are in no rush to part ways with one of their key attacking figures.

According to reports from Italy, Juventus directors will remain at the negotiating table in an attempt to bridge the gap in valuation. Palace are believed to be demanding around €35 million, though sources in England suggest the asking price could be even higher.

There are claims that Mateta himself has already given his approval for a potential move to the Allianz Stadium in January, viewing Juventus as an attractive next step in his career.

However, other reports note that an agreement is still required not only with Crystal Palace but also with the player’s representatives, meaning several hurdles remain before any deal can be finalised.

Napoli are also keeping a close eye on developments, with Antonio Conte’s side considering Mateta as a possible attacking reinforcement. Any move, though, would likely depend on outgoing business involving either Lorenzo Lucca or Noa Lang.

As an alternative, both Juventus and Napoli are understood to be tracking Youssef En-Nesyri, with Fenerbahce reportedly open to negotiating a loan deal that includes an option to buy at the end of the season.
