Juventus has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Belgian striker Lois Openda for €40m, with the player set to undergo medical tests today.
Juventus has finalised a deal worth approximately €40 million to sign Lois Openda from RB Leipzig. The 25-year-old Belgian striker is expected to undergo a medical examination today as part of the transfer process.
The transfer deal, which includes a package worth around €40 million, signals Juventus’ commitment to strengthening their squad. Openda’s signing is the second major deal completed by Juventus in the last 24 hours, following the signing of Edon Zhegrova from Lille.
Openda’s background and playing style make him an attractive signing for Juventus. The striker has scored 41 goals and provided 18 assists in 93 appearances for Leipzig. His pace, sharp movement, and ability to stretch defences will be valuable assets for Juventus. Openda is not a classic target man but can play in various attacking roles, including as a centre-forward or in a supporting role.
The Belgian striker’s transfer to Juventus comes after the club’s failed attempt to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain.
Juventus had initially targeted Kolo Muani, but negotiations collapsed due to financial restrictions and PSG’s refusal to accept a staggered payment plan. With Dusan Vlahovic staying and Kolo Muani out of reach, Juventus turned to Openda as a viable alternative.
Openda’s contract with Juventus is reportedly worth around €4 million per season. This deal will see him commit to the Bianconeri for the next four years, providing stability and consistency to the team’s attacking lineup. The striker is scheduled to land at Turin’s Caselle Airport at 12:30 local time today for his medical tests.
If all goes smoothly, Openda will be officially unveiled as a Juventus player before tonight’s transfer deadline.
With this signing, Juventus has now completed three major deals this summer, including Jonathan David on a free transfer and Joao Mario in a player-plus-cash swap deal from Porto FC.
