Juventus are considering a January move for Parma striker Mateo Pellegrino as concerns grow over their attacking options following a frustrating draw with Lecce.
Juventus are actively assessing options to strengthen their attack in the January transfer window, with reports in Italy suggesting that Parma forward Mateo Pellegrino has emerged as a potential target for the Bianconeri.
The renewed focus on attacking reinforcements follows Juventus’ disappointing 1-1 home draw against Lecce at the weekend, a result that reignited criticism over their lack of a reliable, authoritative centre-forward to lead the line.
Calls for a “true” number nine intensified after a series of missed chances, capped by Jonathan David’s failed Panenka penalty attempt. Despite his overall contribution, questions have been raised about whether the Canadian fits Luciano Spalletti’s preferred profile for a leading striker.
Similar doubts have also surrounded summer signing Lois Openda, leaving Juventus light on dependable options through the middle. Dusan Vlahovic remains sidelined with a long-term injury, while Arkadiusz Milik has not featured competitively since May 2024.
As a result, the club are exploring the January market, with Pellegrino now reportedly among their favoured candidates. The 22-year-old has impressed at Parma and is seen as a more physical presence capable of offering a different dimension in attack.
Juventus and Parma are understood to enjoy a strong working relationship, with sporting directors Marco Ottolini and Federico Cherubini also maintaining close professional ties, factors that could help facilitate discussions.
However, any deal is unlikely to be straightforward. Parma are reluctant to part with their first-choice striker mid-season and would reportedly demand a fee of around €30m. Alternative names on Juventus’ radar include Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth, Napoli’s Lorenzo Lucca and Roma’s Artem Dovbyk as the search for a solution continues.
