Jonny Evans Announces Retirement After Glorious Career

Jonny Evans has announced his retirement from professional football.

Jonny Evans has officially hung up his boots after an incredible 19-year career in professional football.

The 37-year-old Northern Irish defender spent most of his career with Manchester United, where he broke into the first team in 2007 under Sir Alex Ferguson. Evans made 241 appearances for the Red Devils across two separate spells, scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists.

Evans’ trophy cabinet is filled with numerous accolades, including three Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League title, two League Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the 2021 FA Cup with Leicester City. He also helped Manchester United win the 2023/24 FA Cup in his final chapter with the club.

Throughout his career, Evans scored 23 goals and provided 16 assists in 538 club appearances.

On the international stage, he made 107 appearances for Northern Ireland, scoring 6 goals and featuring prominently in their Euro 2016 campaign. Evans retired from international football in 2024 and was awarded an MBE in 2023 for his contributions to football in Northern Ireland.
