Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham will miss the quarterfinal match against Real Madrid due to a suspension, ruling him out of a potential brotherly showdown with Jude Bellingham.
Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham will miss the quarterfinal match against Real Madrid due to a suspension.
Bellingham picked up his second yellow card of the tournament in the 28th minute of Dortmund’s 2-1 win over CF Monterrey, resulting in an automatic suspension.
The 19-year-old was looking forward to playing against his brother Jude Bellingham, who plays for Real Madrid, but will now have to watch from the sidelines. Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl expressed disappointment at Bellingham’s suspension, saying it’s “very, very bitter for him.”
Coach Niko Kovac also acknowledged Bellingham’s disappointment, stating that the player didn’t realize the second yellow card would result in a suspension. Bellingham’s absence will be a significant loss for Dortmund, as he has been a regular starter for the team in the tournament.
