Chelsea are through to the Club World Cup final courtesy of two fantastic goals from new signing João Pedro.

Chelsea vs Fluminense was billed to be a tough match, and there were talks of Fluminense grinding out a win from under Enzo Maresca’s nose, but Chelsea’s new signing João Pedro silenced all that with two brilliant goals to send his team to the final.

Chelsea showed from kickoff that they weren’t underestimating Fluminense and were willing to go band for band with the Brazilians. Enzo Maresca also made a few changes to his side, giving João Pedro his first start for the Blues after making an appearance off the bench against Palmeiras

Chelsea drew first blood in the game after a wonderful strike from João Pedro in the 18th minute. The Brazilian striker found himself in space on the edge of the box, and he let it fly. The ball spun into the net, beyond Fabio’s reach, and to the amazement of everyone watching. It was a beauty to behold.

João Pedro refused to celebrate the goal, given that he was a former Fluminense player. He started his footballing career in the youth ranks of the Brazilian club.

Chelsea didn’t hold back despite being ahead. They showed that they wanted and deserved a place in the final, and a couple of minutes into the second half, they had another goal. Their new signing was at it again.

Chelsea, who were just defending a corner, got the ball across to Palmer, who shrugged off a couple of challenges before finding a pass to Enzo Fernandes. Enzo played a through ball to João Pedro, who raced against the scanty defense in front of him. He then took on his marker before whipping a shot onto the crossbar and into the bottom of the net. It was absolute cinema. It was the João Pedro show.

Chelsea tried to add a third, but efforts from Nkunku and Jackson, who came on as a substitute for João Pedro, failed to find the back of the net. At the end of the final whistle, it was confirmed.

Chelsea were through to the finals of the Club World Cup off the back of a wonderful performance by their new signing, who lit up the MetLife stadium. Chelsea now wait for the outcome of the game between PSG and Real Madrid to know who their opponents will be.
