Chelsea came from behind to beat Aston Villa 4-1 with Joao Pedro getting a hattrick.
Chelsea and Aston Villa faced off in a game that would change the race for top four. Before the start of the game, Aston Villa were three points ahead of Chelsea and they extended the lead to six points temporarily with an early goal.
Just two minutes into the game, Aston Villa took the lead through Douglas Luiz after an early charge at the Chelsea defence. The goal was the type of start Villa needed.
Despite going behind early, Chelsea seemed unfazed and almost equalized through Joao Pedro only to see his header from close range stopped by Emi Martinez.
Chelsea kept applying pressure but it wasn’t enough to really test Martinez in goal.
Their breakthrough would later come in the 35th minute through Joao Pedro bundled home Gusto’s cross after a beautiful passage of play.
Chelsea went behind almost immediately as a loose pass from James set Villa on the counter attack with Watkins striking the ball into the net. The goal was later ruled out for offside as Watkins was just ahead of his last man.
With the ball mainly in their possession, Chelsea kept controlling the game and deservedly went head in first-half stoppage time as Joao Pedro once again found the back of the net.
In the second half, Chelsea picked up where they left off with Palmer adding another goal. To close things out, Joao Pedro sealed the game with his third on the night and Chelsea’s 4th.

Chelsea could’ve gotten a fifth but Martinez stopped his fellow compatriot, Garnacho from adding more salt to injury. Villa had a late chance in the game but Abraham’s header skimmed off the bar.
Chelsea were dominant and ruthless, bouncing back from defeat against Arsenal with a solid performance to move into fifth place. The Blues are now three points behind Aston Villa and Manchester United as the top 4 race becomes even more exciting.
