While there have been rumours of the player heading to Anfield this summer, Isak has not expressed desire to leave Newcastle and the club have no intentions of selling
Alexander Isak is comfortable at Newcastle and there is next to no chance of the player moving to Liverpool, despite rumours of an imminent deal that have swirled around the Internet recently.
Posts across social media and fan forums have claimed that Liverpool are preparing a huge offer to land the Newcastle striker, but sources close to both clubs have told Telegraph Sport that such talk is unfounded.
There has been no contact between Liverpool and Newcastle about Isak, and while Liverpool admire the Sweden international, they are not currently working on a deal to bring him to Anfield.
Isak scored 23 goals last season to finish second on the Premier League top scorers’ chart, second only to Mohamed Salah. Although the player could eventually leave St James’s Park for a bigger club, he is settled at Newcastle at the moment and has shown no signs of wanting to leave.
The club, for their part, view him as a key part of their project under Eddie Howe and have no intention of selling unless a truly outrageous offer is made, a fee that would dwarf even the £116m Liverpool paid to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, with Darwin Nunez expected to leave the club, but Isak is not currently at the top of their shortlist. The club are also mindful of Newcastle’s strong financial position in relation to the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, which means they are under no pressure to sell.
