The Nerazzurri have never worn their golden kit in a European final, having played seven

Inter Milan will don their golden third kit when they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final this Saturday.

The reason behind the decision to wear gold instead of the iconic black-and-blue stripes is that PSG, designated the home side for the final at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, will wear their navy-blue home kit, which would create a visual clash with Inter’s standard home strip.

Rather than opt for their traditional white away jersey, Inter have chosen to step onto Europe’s biggest stage in their golden shirt, paired with black shorts.

This will be Inter’s seventh appearance in a European Cup/Champions League final, and the first time they won’t be clad in either their home or away colours. The club last reached the final in 2010 under Jose Mourinho, when they beat Bayern Munich to seal a historic treble. That night, they wore their traditional stripes.

Inter’s hopes of a treble were dashed in recent weeks after losing the Serie A title to Napoli and suffering a bitter Coppa Italia exit at the hands of AC Milan. The Champions League final is now their last chance to crown the season with silverware.

They’ll also be looking to prevent PSG from claiming a historic treble of their own. Luis Enrique’s PSG side arrive in Munich having already clinched Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France.
