Inter have reportedly agreed a potential swap deal with Al-Hilal for Joao Cancelo, with one of Stefan De Vrij or Francesco Acerbi set to move in the opposite direction.
Inter are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Joao Cancelo back to the club, with Italian media claiming a verbal agreement has been reached with Saudi side Al-Hilal.
The Nerazzurri are actively searching for a new wing-back after suffering a major setback with Denzel Dumfries ruled out long term through injury, forcing Cristian Chivu to explore options in the January window. Cancelo has emerged as a prime target for Inter, having previously spent time on loan at the club, and the 31-year-old could be available for transfer this month. Barcelona are also monitoring his situation closely.
According to reports, Inter and Al-Hilal have now agreed the framework of a deal that would see Cancelo move to San Siro, pending the final details. The proposed agreement would involve a swap, with either Stefan De Vrij or Francesco Acerbi heading to Al-Hilal, where they would be reunited with former Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi.
Inter’s focus now shifts to securing Cancelo’s approval, with the Portugal international said to have asked for an extra day or two to consider his options.
While Cancelo is reportedly keen on a return to Barcelona, it remains uncertain whether the Spanish giants can reach an agreement with Al-Hilal, potentially leaving the door open for Inter to complete the move.
