Inter Milan moved to the top of the Serie A table with a dominant 4-0 win over Como at the San Siro.
The match got off to a thrilling start, with Inter coming close to opening the scoring inside 30 seconds, but Martinez’s lob landed on the roof of the net. The Argentine then played Nicolo Barella through in the third minute, but the midfielder was denied by Jean Butez.
Inter continued to probe, and the pressure told with an opener in the 11th minute. Luis Henrique powered through the left side of the Como defence before composing himself in the box and picking out Martinez, who raced onto the ball and powered home his 11th goal of the season in all competitions.
Como struggled to impose themselves in the contest, mustering just two shots, neither of which was on target, in the opening 45 minutes. They were dealt a further blow when Alvaro Morata was forced off injured, and Inter continued to dominate possession and create chances.
The visitors emerged for the restart with better energy, but failed to capitalise, with Anastasios Douvikas skying his effort from close range. Inter punished their opponents’ mistake, with Thuram scoring his third goal in two matches, and Hakan Calhanoglu wrapping up the points with a brilliant strike from distance.
Inter added a fourth goal late on through Carlos Augusto, who volleyed home unmarked at the back post from Federico Dimarco’s cross. This victory lifts Inter to the top of the Serie A table, while Como’s 12-game unbeaten run was brought to an abrupt end.
