Inter Milan has reclaimed top spot in Serie A with a 2-1 win over Genoa, taking advantage of title rivals AC Milan and Napoli’s dropped points.
The visitors dominated the first half, scoring two goals and looking very comfortable with their lead.
The Nerazzurri took the lead in just six minutes, with defender Yann Bisseck scoring an unlikely goal from the edge of the area. They doubled their lead just before halftime, with Lautaro Martinez scoring a well-taken goal, skipping past defenders and shooting into the right corner of the net.
Genoa, however, refused to give up and scored a consolation goal with just over 20 minutes remaining, thanks to Vitinha’s clever finish. The home side pushed for an equalizer, but Inter Milan held on to secure a valuable win.
The win marks Inter Milan’s fifth victory in their last six away league outings, and they will be looking to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches. Genoa, on the other hand, are now winless in their last 13 Serie A meetings with Inter Milan.
Genoa’s defeat sees them drop down a place to 16th, just two points clear of the relegation zone. The home side had been enjoying a good run of form under new manager Daniele De Rossi, but they were unable to continue this against Inter Milan.
