Inter Milan reignited the Serie A title race with a 2-0 victory over Torino, capitalizing on Napoli’s unexpected 2-2 draw against Genoa. This sequence of results has narrowed Napoli’s lead to a single point, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion to the season.

In Turin, Inter showed why they have been leaders all this time. Despite resting key players like Lautaro Martínez, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Benjamin Pavard, manager Simone Inzaghi’s rotated squad delivered.

Nicola Zalewski opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a precise finish, while Kristjan Asllani doubled the lead early in the second half from the penalty spot after Mehdi Taremi was fouled. The match faced interruptions due to heavy rain and a thunderstorm, but Inter maintained control throughout.

Meanwhile, at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, Napoli’s encounter with Genoa was fraught with tension. Scott McTominay provided two assists, setting up Romelu Lukaku and Giacomo Raspadori. However, defensive lapses allowed Genoa to equalize twice, with Johan Vásquez’s late header sealing the draw. This result marked a significant setback for Napoli, who now sit just one point ahead of Inter with two matches remaining.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte called for calm and perspective after the match, emphasizing that the team has already exceeded expectations this season. He acknowledged the disappointment but praised his players for their performance, noting their dominance in the match with 22 shots, 11 on target, and superior possession. Conte attributed the result to small mistakes and missed opportunities, underscoring the need to improve in critical moments.

As the Serie A season nears its conclusion, the title race is poised for a dramatic finish. Napoli faces challenging fixtures against Parma and Cagliari, while Inter will take on Lazio and Como. With only two matches remaining, every point is crucial, and both teams will be under immense pressure to secure victories.

The possibility of a playoff to decide the champion, should both teams finish level on points, adds an extra layer of excitement to an already thrilling title race. Fans across Italy and beyond will be eagerly watching as Napoli and Inter battle it out for the Scudetto.
