Inter Milan has resumed talks with Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku after Atalanta rejected their €45m offer for Ademola Lookman.

Nkunku becomes Inter’s primary target if the Lookman deal falls through.

Inter Milan’s pursuit of Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman has hit a roadblock after the Italian club rejected their latest offer of €45m, including add-ons.

With Atalanta valuing Lookman at €50m and unwilling to lower the price tag, Inter has turned its attention to Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku.

Multiple sources in Italy claim that Nkunku is Inter’s main alternative to Lookman, and the Nerazzurri directors have opened preliminary talks with the striker’s entourage.

Nkunku’s salary at Stamford Bridge could be an obstacle for Inter, as the French forward earns €6.5m, significantly higher than Lookman’s agreed salary of €4.5m per year with Inter.

Despite this, Inter is keen on securing Nkunku’s services, and the player has been linked to a move to the Serie A.

The talks between Inter and Nkunku’s representatives are still in the preliminary stages, but the Italian club is reportedly serious about signing the striker.

If Inter fails to secure a deal for Lookman, Nkunku becomes their primary target. The Chelsea striker has been out of favor at Stamford Bridge, and Inter believes he can bring a new dimension to their attack. With his experience in top-level football, Nkunku could be a valuable addition to Inter’s squad.
