Inter Milan Beat Lecce 2-0 to Extend Serie A Lead

Inter Milan have extended their lead at the top of the Serie A table with a 2-0 win over Lecce.

Cristian Chivu made seven changes to the Inter team that suffered a midweek defeat in the Champions League, but they still dominated the game.

The hosts were denied a goal in the 10th minute when Luis Henrique’s volley was cleared off the line by Siebiert. Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone made several impressive saves, keeping his team in the game.

Inter thought they had taken the lead in the 50th minute, but Marcus Thuram was ruled offside. Chivu made four changes after the hour mark, and one of the substitutes, Mkhitaryan, scored the opener in the 75th minute.

Mkhitaryan’s goal sparked a second Inter goal, as Federico Dimarco’s corner caused chaos in the Lecce box, and Akanji powered home the second goal.

The win puts pressure on AC Milan and Napoli to respond with victories in their respective matches. Lecce remains in 17th place, just three points above the relegation zone.
