Forward is eager to win more trophies in Spain after lifting the Spanish Super Cup

Marcus Rashford is happy at Barcelona and not considering returning to Manchester United despite the club’s change of manager.

Rashford left United on loan last summer for Barcelona, after a falling out with manager Ruben Amorim. But Amorim has now left the club, after he was sacked last week due to disagreements with the club hierarchy over tactics and transfers. The club will not appoint a permanent head coach until the summer.

Barcelona have an option to make the deal for Rashford permanent at the end of the season. Alternatively, if the club choose not to retain him or the player himself declines a move, he could in fact return to Old Trafford.

But the player has made it clear he wants to remain in Catalonia. Rashford won his first trophy with Barcelona on Sunday after Hansi Flick’s side beat rivals Real Madrid to claim the Spanish Super Cup, and he hopes to win more.

“It’s always the best feeling to win the first trophy,” Rashford said. “I hope now for the rest of the season we can go on to win some more.”

Asked whether the Super Cup could be his first and last trophy for the club, Rashford said: “I hope not.”

On the team in general, the England forward said: “When we win it makes it so much easier but I feel like throughout the season, even in moments we’re not playing so well, we stick together and act as a team. So, for me it’s perfect. I’m really enjoying my time here.”
