The Manchester United captain was on the radar of Saudi Pro League clubs this summer
Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes turned down an approach from Portuguese teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to join him at Al-Nassr.
The United captain has been the subject of repeated interest from Saudi Arabia this summer, with at least three offers tabled, including one from Al-Hilal with a £100m bid and an offer of a substantial increase in wages.
However, Fernandes made it clear he still wanted to play at the top level in Europe and wanted to remain at Old Trafford for at least another season. The 30-year-old is understood to have given a similar response to Ronaldo.
Fernandes has been United’s most reliable performer since he arrived at the club in 2020, and his decision to stay offers some stability as manager Ruben Amorim looks to rebuild a faltering side.
Ronaldo, who recently extended his contract in Riyadh, has had some influence over recruitment at Al-Nassr. His push to reunite with Fernandes came after the signing of fellow Portugal forward Joao Felix, who joined from Chelsea this summer.
According to reports, Ronaldo also asked Al-Nassr to sign former United teammate and current Marseille forward Mason Greenwood.
