Club are not actively looking to sell the Norwegian but would consider their options if significant offers were tabled
Rasmus Hojlund is not pushing for a move away from Manchester United this summer, despite continued speculation linking the striker with a return to Serie A, where Inter remain interested in a potential deal.
The 22-year-old Danish international endured a difficult second season at Old Trafford, scoring just four Premier League goals in 32 appearances as United fell to a 15th-place finish in the league and ended the season trophyless.
Despite that dip in form, sources close to the player say he remains intent on staying and proving himself under head coach Ruben Amorim.
United are not actively looking to sell the Norwegian but would consider their options if significant offers were tabled. Amorim, who began pre-season training with the squad on Monday, is understood to want more attacking options as he shapes the team to fit his tactical system.
Hojlund arrived from Atalanta in 2023 for a fee that could reach £72m with add-ons. He scored 10 Premier League goals in his debut campaign and 16 in all competitions, but in the 2024-25 season he struggled alongside the rest of the United squad. Some observers have argued that the club’s overall issues in ball progression and chance creation left the No 9 often isolated and underused.
Crucially, this will be Hojlund’s first full pre-season since joining United. A back injury delayed his debut in 2023, and a hamstring issue ruled him out of last summer’s preparations. This year, however, he is fit and expected to play a full part in the club’s preseason tour.
Inter Milan have monitored Hojlund’s situation for several weeks, according to reports in Italy, with his previous stint in Serie A with Atalanta convincing the club that he can impress once again. However, there has been no formal approach.
United, meanwhile, have moved to strengthen their forward line. Matheus Cunha has joined from Wolves for £62.5m while talks remain ongoing with Brentford for Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo remains a target. Neither signing is a replacement for Hojlund, with Amorim reportedly keen to play them in the two No 10 positions in his 3-4-3 system.
