Goalkeeper saved twice from the spot as Oliver Glasner’s side won second trophy in 2025
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson has praised his team’s achievements as “incredible” after winning the 2025 Community Shield.
Palace came back twice against Liverpool at Wembley to end the match 2-2, before defeating the Premier League champions 3-2 in the resulting penalty shoot-out.
Dean Henderson saved twice from the spot before youngster Justin Devenny emphatically converted Palace’s fifth kick.
The win marks the second trophy Palace have won in 2025 under manager Oliver Glasner, after not winning silverware in 34 years.
In the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May, Henderson was also the hero, saving from the spot in normal time to prevent Pep Guardiola’s side from getting a crucial equaliser.
Henderson said: “I love the big moments. I love being in that pressure moment. The homework we did on penalties was great.
“They have unbelievable players and a great team but two trophies in three months is incredible.
“These emotions are fantastic. With them 2-1 up you think we are out of the game. The manager said we’d get chances and we did.”
