Manchester City manager says the Brazilian is an “extraordinary player” who has shown he can play a high level
Pep Guardiola says he wants Savinho to remain at Manchester City for the long term but admits the final decision will rest with the player.
Tottenham Hotspur have approached City over a potential move for the 21-year-old Brazilian winger before the transfer window closes. Guardiola confirmed the club’s stance remains that players who wish to leave are usually allowed to do so if an agreement can be reached.
“The only thing I’m concerned about today is that Savinho will be with us all the season, and hopefully for many, many years,” said Guardiola.
“But at the end, as always, the desire of the player prevails above everything, and after that there has to be an agreement with the club. If you don’t make an agreement, the player will be here.”
Savinho joined City last summer after a breakout season on loan at Girona, where he impressed in La Liga with his pace and creativity.
Guardiola said he still has areas to improve, particularly his decision-making in the final third, but called him an “extraordinary player” who has already shown he can play regular minutes at a high level.
The winger will miss City’s Premier League opener at Wolves on Saturday due to injury
