Striker insists he can still play at the top level amid exit rumours

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has dropped a hint that he might like to continue at Camp Nou beyond the summer.

The Poland international is out of contract in June and his future has come under intense speculation. It is thought that Barcelona are reluctant to extend the 37-year-old’s deal, with the club impressed with the performance of Ferran Torres and also considering the possibility of signing a young striker in the summer.

Barcelona have been linked to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, although neither of those deals are expected to happen. Lewandowski started Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid in Jedda and scored the second goal in the 3-2 victory to at secured the trophy.

“We won another title and we’re very happy,” Lewandowski said, before adding: “It’s a good time for me. Don’t worry, I can still play at a top level. I hope to help the team by scoring goals.”

Barcelona led through Raphinha after the half hour, before a flurry of goals from both sides in stoppage time of the first period. Vinicius Junior equalised, but Lewandowski put Barcelona ahead again, only for Gonzalo Garcia to level things once more. A second goal from Raphinha then decided the contest late in the second half.

“We’re very happy,” Lewandowski said. “We have another title, and whenever we win against Real Madrid it’s a big game. Today we played very well in the first half and in the second as well, looking for goals, but in the end we won, which is the most important thing.”

“Sometimes we need a little more patience, but against Madrid we always have to play at 100% and it’s important that we won 3-2 and have another title.”
