While many may not consider this good news, Lian Rosenior is happy with the result from Chalobah’s scan after his injury in Chelsea’s 2-8 aggregate loss to PSG.

The Chelsea staff and Liam Rosenior are pleased to find out that Chalobah’s injury in the 3-0 loss to PSG in the second leg of their Champions League clash against PSG isn’t as bad as they originally feared.

On a night where Chelsea needed to bring the magic as they pursued a comeback, PSG beat them 3-0 to reach an aggregate win of 8-2. Things went from bad to worse as Trevor Chalobah looked severely hurt after colliding with Hakimi.

The images from the injury looked really bad as Chalobah had to be carried out of the field on a stretcher. However, after undergoing scans, Rosenior says the injury isn’t as bad as he thought.

‘Obviously, it’s never good that Trevoh is out for any period of time, but fortunately, it’s not as serious as we first feared.

‘It’s still a serious injury, but we’re looking at a period of six weeks, which is disappointing, but from where we were a couple of days ago, straight after the game, we are in a better place than we thought.’ Rosenior said.

Rosenior also spoke about Jorgensen, who will undergo a minor operation for his groin injury, while James will continue to be monitored, having pulled his hamstring against Newcastle. Rosenior also hopes he can get better news on James’ progress after the international break.

There is also positive news on Levi Colwill as he joined the team in training today. While the centre-back is not yet close to a return to first-team action after suffering a knee ligament injury during pre-season, Rosenior is encouraged by the progress being made by the England international and is hopeful Colwill could return before the end of our campaign.

He said: ‘With an ACL [recovery], he is hitting all the benchmarks he needs to, but we need to keep making sure he is going past certain levels.

‘It’s brilliant to have his presence back on the training pitch, and while we want to see him back out there on the pitch as soon as possible, it has to be within the right timeframe. He’s still looking at a good while [before returning to first-team action] yet. Hopefully, that can be this season, which would be a massive boost.’
