Federico Gatti’s 94th-minute equalizer capped a stunning Juventus comeback from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with AS Roma, keeping the Champions League race wide open.

Roma and Juventus played out a breathless 3-3 draw that served as a perfect reminder of the high stakes in the race for Champions League football. For the Old Lady, this was a massive test of character following a grueling midweek exit from Europe at the hands of Galatasaray

Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma side started with the kind of intensity you’d expect from a team sensing blood. Youngster Niccolo Pisilli was the catalyst early on, forcing Mattia Perin into a sharp save before eventually turning provider in the 39th minute. He found Wesley on the edge of the box, who unleashed a right-footed curler into the net.

The second half began with a moment of pure magic that briefly silenced the Olimpico. Just two minutes after the restart, Francisco Conceicao delivered a potential goal of the season winner. After a free-kick was half-cleared, the Portuguese winger connected with a ferocious left-footed volley that left Mile Svilar with no chance. It was only his third goal of the campaign, but the sheer quality of the strike suggested he was ready to carry Juve on his back.

However, the euphoria of the equalizer was short-lived as Roma scored again.

Only seven minutes after conceding, Evan Ndicka regained the lead for the hosts, expertly finishing a clever corner routine involving Pisilli and Lorenzo Pellegrini. The momentum swung even further in Roma’s favor when Donyell Malen who has been a revelation since his January loan from Aston Villa latched onto a Manu Kone through ball and dinked a delightful finish over Perin to make it 3-1.

With a two-goal cushion, it seemed the stuffing had been knocked out of Spalletti’s shell-shocked Juventus. But the visitors found a lifeline through Jeremie Boga, who chose the perfect moment to net his first goal for the club. A deflected cross from Edon Zhegrova fell kindly at the far post, and the Ivorian kept his composure to slot it home.

Suddenly, a game that looked settled was transformed into a frantic, end-to-end scramble for the final twenty minutes.

As the clock ticked deep into stoppage time, the Roma defence appeared to be holding firm. However, the final twist favored the visitors. Following a deep free-kick launched into a crowded penalty area, Federico Gatti reacted quickest to scramble the ball home, sending the away end into absolute raptures. It was a heartbreaking moment for the home supporters, who saw two vital points evaporate in the 94th minute.

The draw leaves the table in a fascinating position, with Roma sitting three points clear of fifth-placed Como. Meanwhile, Juventus remains in sixth place, just four points behind the Giallorossi.
