Garnacho wants to remain in the Premier League; Chelsea key contenders for 20-year-old’s signature

Alejandro Garnacho will reject a reunion with former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen, as the player has no intention of switching to the Bundesliga.

Garnacho reportedly prefers to remain in the Premier League, so he is expected to reject approaches from clubs abroad, according to Fabrizio Romano. It means that Chelsea would fancy their chances of landing the 20-year-old.

The Blues have long admired Garnacho, having made an effort to sign him in the January transfer window. This latest development will provide much encouragement to their recruitment team.

Aston Villa are also believed to hold an interest in the Argentine, though finances are expected to be an issue.

Meanwhile, Napoli and Atletico Madrid have been dealt a blow by the player’s desire to stay in England.

Despite his clear intentions to leave Manchester United, Garnacho remains an expensive prospect. United have reportedly slapped a £70 million price tag on him. However, clubs serious about a deal could realistically expect to negotiate a much lower fee, particularly with new manager Ruben Amorim having already made it clear that Garnacho does not figure in his plans for next season.
