Callum Wilson’s stoppage-time goal sealed a dramatic 2-1 win for West Ham over Tottenham

West Ham United claimed a dramatic 2-1 London derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur thanks to a last-gasp Callum Wilson strike, ending their 11-game Premier League winless run and piling further pressure on Tottenham boss Thomas Frank.

The match began at a frantic pace, with Castellanos booked for dissent inside the opening 20 seconds before almost redeeming himself by flashing a hooked effort just over the crossbar. Despite limited sustained pressure, West Ham found the breakthrough through a moment of brilliance from Summerville.

The winger beat two defenders cutting in from the left before unleashing a shot that took a heavy deflection, wrong-footing Vicario and giving the visitors a precious lead. Tottenham were dealt a further blow shortly after, as Ben Davies was stretchered off following an injury sustained in the build-up.

Tottenham responded late in the first half, forcing Areola into a stunning double save to deny Odobert and Spence. Tel then fired narrowly wide, while another Summerville effort caused chaos at the other end, with Bowen seeing a rebound ruled out for offside.

West Ham continued to threaten before the break, with Vicario clawing away a towering header from Mavropanos as the visitors carried momentum into the interval following a lengthy stoppage.

Tottenham emerged with renewed intent after the restart, as Bissouma twice tested Areola from distance and Spence went close. Their pressure finally told when Romero powered home a bullet header, leaving the West Ham goalkeeper helpless.

With Tottenham in control, Summerville nearly restored West Ham’s lead but was denied by a superb last-ditch tackle from Van de Ven. Areola then produced another crucial save to keep out Xavi Simons as the match edged toward stoppage time.

In the dying moments, chaos from a corner allowed substitute Callum Wilson to pounce and fire into the roof of the net, sealing Nuno Espírito Santo’s first away win and lifting West Ham to within four points of Nottingham Forest. Tottenham, meanwhile, could sink as low as 15th by the end of the weekend, deepening concerns over their alarming run of form.
