Returning from Champions League football, we turn our attention back to the domestic leagues, where three points are up for grabs and the fight to win league titles intensifies.
Manchester United vs Chelsea
On Saturday in the Premier League, Manchester United hosts their rivals, Chelsea, at Old Trafford. Chelsea will be the third team in the traditional top six that United have faced in the opening five games of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
In addition to Manchester United’s poor form, the Red Devils have already lost to Arsenal (1-0) and Manchester City (3-0 last week). They have had a torrid start to the season and now, they host Chelsea who dropped points at Brentford and were floored by Bayern Munich during the week at Allianz Arena. Chelsea will be looking to bounce back and finally win at Old Trafford for the first time since 2013.
Arsenal vs Manchester City
It’s Super Sunday in the Premier League as Arsenal and Manchester City lock horns in what promises to be a thrilling encounter. Arsenal have only lost one game this season, which was against Liverpool while City have had a shock loss to Brighton and a three-nil thumping at Tottenham the week before.
Both sides will look to deliver blockbuster action on Sunday. A lot will be expected from Mikel Arteta, given the new look to his squad. He’s also coming against a Manchester City side that has been shaky this season.
Lazio vs Roma
Also known as the Derby della Capitale, Lazio and Roma meet on Sunday in Rome. This fixture has a lot of history, and Serie A fans will be hoping for another grueling encounter on Sunday. Both teams lost their last Serie A games and will be looking to bounce back in the derby.
Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Bayer Leverkusen come into this fixture having snatched a 2-2 draw from FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League. This now makes it a win and a draw for Hjulmand since taking over from Erik Ten Hag. Leverkusen are currently in 10th place in the league table, and they will be looking to increase their point tally when they take on Borussia Monchengladbach, who have been poor themselves.
Borussia Monchengladbach are currently 16th on the league table and have yet to score a goal or record a win this season. Their only point so far comes after a 0-0 draw against Hamburg SV, after which they sacked their coach, Gerardo Seoane. Winning this game would mean a lot to both sides, making it a must-watch, especially for Bundesliga fans.
Marseille vs PSG
The biggest game in France takes place this Sunday as Marseille takes on PSG. It’s more than just a football match. Pride, bragging rights, and the fight for the supremacy of football in France is on the line. PSG have dominated France for the past decade, with Marseille being their closest opposition.
PSG have just won 5 trophies in the last season, and winning this game against their closest rivals will add more salt to the bruised ego of Marseille fans who can;t brag anymore that they are the only club in France to have won the UCL. A lot more than three points is on the line, and this game could go haywire depending on the result.
