Shirt numbers also confirmed for Kerkez, 6, Frimpong 30 and Ekitike 22
Liverpool have confirmed that new signing Florian Wirtz will wear the club’s No 7 shirt for the upcoming season, following the departure of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich earlier this week.
Diaz completed a £65.5m move to the Bundesliga champions on Monday, creating space for Wirtz to select his preferred squad number. The German international wore 17 at Bayer Leverkusen.
Wirtz arrived at Anfield in June as one of the high-profile signings of the summer, in a £116m deal that placed him near the top end of the Premier League’s table for transfer fees.
Elsewhere, Liverpool also confirmed shirt numbers for other summer additions. Milos Kerkez, who joined from Bournemouth, has taken the No 6 shirt while Jeremie Frimpong has chosen No 30, the same number he wore at Leverkusen.
Hugo Ekitike, the latest signing from Eintracht Frankfurt, has been handed the No 22 jersey.
In goal, Giorgi Mamardashvili will wear No 25, with new backup goalkeepers Freddie Woodman and Armin Pecsi wearing No 28 and No 41 respectively.
