Manager reveals the top job at the Catalan club will be the last in his managerial career

Hansi Flick has confirmed that Barcelona will be the last club he will manage, as he prepares to sign another year’s contract extension.

Flick took over in the summer of 2024 and delivered Barcelona’s 28th league title in his first season. He also guided the club to their first Champions League semi-final since 2019. His current contract expires in 2027 but Flick is set to extend it for another year.

“Everyone knows I am really happy here,” Flick said. “I need to speak with my family first, but we have enough time to discuss it. It’s clear that I love to work here. But the most important thing for me is that I have a fantastic family and I am proud of that. I feel the support of everyone in Barcelona.

“But, this is football, and we know how this world works. We [as a family] have no thoughts of leaving to [join] another club. This will be my last job, and I am really happy about that.”

Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who won the club elections last week and will now be in charge until 2031, has already announced that one of his first acts was to move to secure Flick’s long-term future.

“His contract runs up until 2027 now and we want him to work always with an extra year of contract ahead,” Laporta said. “Hansi is also keen on that. We will try to announce it as soon as possible because we believe it’s the best for the club.

“Flick has added new elements to our team always respecting our style and philosophy, with discipline and self-demand. He has fixed the team and make it successful with the same players he inherited.”
