Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong is getting close attention from Serie A strugglers Fiorentina, who are considering a winter transfer bid for the 19-year-old defender.

Josh Acheampong, Chelsea’s talented young defender, is reportedly on the radar of Serie A club Fiorentina, who are looking to strengthen their defense in the winter transfer window.

Acheampong, 19, has made just five starts and three substitute appearances for Chelsea this season and his performances have sparked interest from other clubs.

Fiorentina, currently bottom of the Serie A table, are keen on securing Acheampong’s services, potentially on a loan deal with an option to buy. The Italian club is looking to bolster their defense, having failed to win any of their opening 11 matches.

Acheampong’s lack of game time at Chelsea has been a concern, with Enzo Maresca’s side having several experienced defenders ahead of him in the pecking order. Despite this, Maresca has expressed his admiration for Acheampong, stating that he has a clear plan for the young defender’s development.

The 19-year-old has impressed when called upon, featuring in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League campaign and the recent FIFA Club World Cup.

Chelsea is unlikely to sell Acheampong, with Maresca keen on retaining him for the future. The club has previously indicated that they didn’t want to block Acheampong’s pathway by signing a replacement for injured Levi Colwill.

Acheampong’s current value is estimated at €300,000, but Chelsea is expected to demand more, given his potential and development. With interest from multiple clubs, it remains to be seen whether Acheampong will stay at Chelsea or make a move.
