Manchester United captain says new signing has “settled very quickly with everyone”
Bruno Fernandes has said that new signing Matheus Cunha has settled quickly and is already making his presence felt in the dressing room.
The Brazilian joined United this summer from Wolves in a £62.5m deal and has taken the No 10 shirt.
Fernandes said: “The Brazilians are very loud, very happy. [Cunha] is a very funny guy and has settled very quickly with everyone.
“That’s good as we need to him to connect with every player and get the best out of him.”
United won their first game of pre-season on Sunday against West Ham. Fernandes scored a goal on either side of the break to put his side 2-0 up, but West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen halved the lead late on and it ultimately ended 2-1.
The club captain said feeling around the squad has been positive so far as Amorim prepares for his first full season in charge.
“Training has been very good – we have been doing very well,” said Fernandes. “It’s good to win the game, even it being a friendly, and to go into the season in a positive way.
He noted, however, that there were still a lot of improvements to be made.
Fernandes said: “Overall the game was good. We was good on the ball. In some moments we could have kept possession for longer as the manager was asking – we rushed a bit in the final third when trying to score our goals. We will work on that.”
