Man Utd boss reportedly keen on Wolves forward Matheus Cunha as club prepares for big summer
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim remains optimistic about the club’s ability to attract top talent, despite the club facing their worst campaign in the modern Premier League era.
United are currently 14th in the Premier League and failure to win the Europa League this season means they miss out entirely on European competition next season. This has raised concerns that the club might not be attractive to talented players come the summer.
One player the club are reportedly targeting is Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, who is familiar with Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation and can easily slot into one of the No 10 roles.
Asked whether the club can still attract players like Cunha, Amorim told reporters that when he speaks to players he can still sense the appeal of playing for the club.
“It’s Manchester United,” said Amorim. “What I feel is there are a lot of players who want to play for our club and I know that if you look at our club in the moment, with all the problems with the staff and people going, changing coach and the results, it looks like a little bit of a problem.
“But we have a clear idea. That is the easiest part to explain to a player.
“Then it is Manchester United. Everyone wants to play for Manchester United.”
