Europa League Final: A Must-Win For Both Teams

This is a brief preview of the Europa League Final between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

The Europa League final is the most anticipated event in football this week. The teams in the final make it an even spicier fixture to watch.

Tottenham and Manchester United have had a rollercoaster of a season and they both need this trophy desperately to have a good ending to their seasons. By their standards, this is their worst performance but somehow, they find themselves in the finals of the second biggest tournament in European history.

Manchester United are currently 16th in the Premier League and are yet hit 40 points this season after playing 37 games. They are on course to record their worst-ever finish in Premier League history. Winning this trophy won’t just guarantee them Champions League next season, it’ll provide a slight relief from the real problems that plague the club. They will have something onto this season despite their poor run.

For Tottenham, it’s not just about salvaging the season but also writing history. They’re about to win another major trophy for the first time since 2008. Winning this will prove Postecoglou right in saying he always wins things in his second season but it also changes the atmosphere of gloom that has been at the club. Tottenham fans haven’t had a feeling of joy that comes with winning trophies and this final is a chance to that.

But what happens if they lose? What happens if either team loses.

For Postecoglou, he could lose his job as his future is uncertain. Tottenham will be downcast and that feeling that won’t ever win a trophy will come up again. For a player like Heung Min Son, this may just be the last straw he needs to finally leave the club..

But for Manchester United, there is no way out of the misery they would be in. A loss here would confirm what many have always known, that the club has hit rock bottom. It could also affect their finances and chances to convince players to join the club and rebuild it. The club would sink into an endless summer of despair.

Both teams can’t lose and both teams can’t win so that means there will be one winner and loser. It’ll be a tough watch for fans of both teams but for neutral fans, they just want to see the best team win.
